TODAY

OPEN MIND PEOPLE
IS THE FUTURE

KARIBU JILORE PROJECT

PROGETTO

The big news is that Karibu Onlus has been recognized as a charity and entered into Kenya’s official register of associations; it is therefore authorized to operate freely within the country, in compliance with local laws. This means our project in Jilore can now begin; it will follow the same model as the Chakama project, though the people involved will be different. Crucially, new micro-projects will be added, along with a new approach to managing funds and overseeing the execution of all project-related work.

So, officially, it will no longer be KARIBU ONLUS ITALY. It feels almost unreal, yet it is the truth.

What remains, however, is the entire history of the eighteen years we spent together—a unique journey that fostered immense growth for us all.

This is not the end of the book we are writing, but merely the conclusion of a chapter. We have learned a great deal and will not repeat the same mistakes born of sheer enthusiasm and the frenetic urge to do, do, and do—sometimes getting it wrong along the way.

Our relationship with the Jilore community will be different: more collaborative, more hands-on, even more proactive, and certainly more responsible.

As always, only the time will tell us more about this new adventure.

THE PROJECT

PP1/PP2

We began last year by building the first classroom, and today we are ready to complete the project in time for the start of the school year in January 2027.

WELL

This will be a cornerstone of the entire projet, serving as a vital resource to connect all the facilities we plan to build. It will be made available to the entire community free of charge.

Work on the well will begin concurrently with the construction of the PP2 classroom.

AGRICULTURE AND FARM

This is a brand-new feature of the project.

We will have 3 acres at our disposal, dedicated to fruit and vegetable cultivation, animal husbandry, and the creation of a fish pond for raising tilapia.

This area is expected to become self-sustaining by the end of 2027, allowing future investments to be directed toward other public-benefit micro-projects.
