Nel 2012 la KARIBU ha portato per la prima volta l'acqua a Kibora.
Non che non avessero l'acqua ma usavano quella del fiume Galana,il più grande fiume keniota che passa proprio da quelle parti. Naturalmente era compito delle donne procurare l'acqua per la famiglia ed ogni giorno,quindi,le donne dovevano recarsi al fiume,cariche di taniche di plastica,dovevano riempirle e portarle a casa per tutti gli usi ma soprattutto per bere.
Il fiume dista circa 3 chilometri quindi si capisce benissimo come potesse essere pesante e faticoso questo compito.
Non era propriamente acqua potabile,per noi occidentali,mentre per loro è sempre stata la grande e sola risorsa,per tutto.
Dovevano però lavorare molto per renderla quasi potabile. Usavano ramoscelli di un albero particolare con il quale dovevano continuamente mescolare l'acqua prima di berla. Le proprietà della corteccia,muovendo l'acqua,facevano in modo che batteri ed impurità si adagiassero sul fondo così che loro potessere bere tranquillamente la parte superficiale.
La KARIBU,allora,costruì una conduttura per portare l'acqua dal fiume al nostro Karibu Center e questo permise a tutti di avere molto più facilmente l'acqua nelle proprie capanne e soprattutto di averla gratuitamente.
Da quest'anno,però,la più grande e nota compagnia per il servizio idrico in Kenya,la MAWASCO, è arrivata con le sue condutture da Malindi a Kibora ed ha posizionato il primo

Di conseguenza la KARIBU,fedele al suo impegno nei confronti della comunità di garantire l'acqua e la scuola in maniera gratuita,ha contattato la MAWASCO perchè costruisca una conduttura per portare l'acqua potabile anche al nostro centro che oggi si chiama KIBORA COMMUNITY FARM.
Tutto questo avverrà a partire dal prossimo anno 2017 grazie ad un accordo raggiunto con la Ditta CERAMICHE BRENNERO SpA.
Infatti,in occasione del lancio di una nuova linea di piastrelle dal nome ACQUA si è pensato di abbinare questa linea ad un progetto solidale che stia lavorando per portare l'acqua in uno dei tanti paesi dove l'acqua è fra le massime priorità.
La scelta è caduta sulla KARIBU e di conseguenza su Kibora. I promotori di questa bellissima iniziativa sono Elisa Constanzini, una ragazza meravigliosa che è stata nostra volontaria a Kibora nel 2011 e Massimo Morgillo,suo grande amico ma soprattutto consulente,appunto,della

In 2012 the KARIBU led for the first time the water in Kibora.
Before the people of Kibora used the water of the Galana River, the largest Kenyan river which passes right over there. Of course it was the duty of women collecting water for the family and every day, women had to go to the river, laden with plastic tanks, had to fill them and take them home for all uses but also for drinking.
The river is approximately 3 km far so you may understand very well how heavy and difficult is this task.
We cannot dring this water, while for them it has always been the largest and one resource for everything.
But they had to work hard to make it almost drinkable. They used twigs of a particular tree under which they had to constantly mix the water before drinking it. The properties of the bark, moving water, made sure that bacteria and impurities fall on the bottom so that they can drink quietly the part surface.
The KARIBU then built a pipeline to bring water from the river to our Karibu Center and this allowed everyone to have easily the water in their huts and especially to have it for free.
From this year, however, the largest and well-known company for water services in Kenya, the MAWASCO, came with its pipelines from Malindi to Kibora and has positioned the first MAWASCO KIOSK.
Consequently KARIBU, true to its commitment to the community to ensure water for free, contacted the MAWASCO why build a pipeline to bring drinking water even to our center Kibora COMMUNITY FARM. Karibu will take charge of the costs.
All this will happen from next year in 2017 thanks to an agreement reached with the firm CERAMICHE BRENNERO SpA.
